Valentines day is on the 14th of February every year. Valentines day is the holiday of love, it is when you show signs of appreciation to your loved ones more specifically your significant other. Typical genre conventions of valentines day are as follows, Love, romantic acts, fancy dinners, gifts, usually two partners, etc. The tv show the office episode Valentines day depicts the typical genre conventions of Valentines day. The episode starts off with Michael Scott heading to a meeting and telling the Office that he and Jan 'hooked up'. He then goes to a meeting and shows a presentation to the board that gives reason to believe that he and Jan are together. In a private meeting one of the board members says how he should've slept with Jan also to get the job. Michael defends Jan from the executive member and saves her career. Jan sees this as a true romantic act from Michael. At the office in Scranton Angela and Dwight share gifts with one another as traditionally done on Valentines day. Angela gives Dwight a Dwight bobble head that he will cherish forever. Phyllis receives gifts from her husband and they go out to a nice dinner together.
